dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this article is to describe how was the reality of the Panamanian nation at the time of separation from Colombia, motivated by events before and during that process and also those that occurred immediately after. The influence of two natural features of the isthmus: Its geographic position and be a transit place. What pays off these features and why powerful nations fought to possess the transit area. It describes that Panama consists of two main parts: urban and rural areas, producing goods for domestic consumption. It also reviews the foundation of the Panamanian national monetary system.es_ES
dc.description.abstractEl propósito de este artículo es describir la realidad que vivía la nación istmeña al momento de la separación de Colombia, motivada por sucesos ocurridos antes y durante ese proceso y también aquellos sucedidos inmediatamente después. La influencia de dos características naturales del istmo: Su posición geográfica y lugar de tránsito; lo que reditúa dichas características y el por qué naciones poderosas lucharon por poseer el área de tránsito. Describe que Panamá consta del Panamá urbano y el Panamá rural, agropecuario, productor de bienes para el consumo nacional, también reseña el fundamento del sistema monetario nacional panameño.
