Abstract
The objective of the research is to analyze the socioeconomic and family effects of the COVID19
pandemic in the community of Nuevo Amanecer, district of David Sur. The environment where it was
developed is located in the District of David Sur, Province of Chiriquí, specifically in the
Barrio de San Cristóbal, Nuevo Amanecer; place where the social actors of the study are located. The
approach used is qualitative, complying with its respective characteristics, the scope is exploratory since
it is characterized by being a phenomenon of which there are few studies, because it is currently being
developed worldwide; It is descriptive because it seeks to specify the important characteristics of the
social actors, through the categories and subcategories, thus allowing an analysis to be established
through the narration of the lived experiences of the affected people.
The phenomenological design is considered, since it allows us to describe and explore experiences
lived by the participants during the period of confinement due to COVID-19. Two types of samples were
used in the study: convenience and diverse or maximum variation. Regarding the techniques for collecting
information, the semi-structured interview and the focus group were used, these allowed us to obtain
necessary and extensive information on the experiences of each family.
It is important to highlight that the results were obtained from the interaction of the researchers
with the social actors, by promoting the meetings that finally allowed the interpretation of the
experiences lived by these three (3) families.
