Observación de aves: alternativa didáctica para la interpretación ambietnal y el turismo. Escuela de turismo. Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí, 2024.
Abstract
The following research has the general objective of verifying if bird watching is a
didactic alternative for environmental interpretation, in the students of the Bachelor of
Tourism with emphasis in Ecological Tourism of Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí. The
methodological approach is mixed, since three instruments were used: a survey applied to
7 teachers, 16 students (questionnaire 1) and 7 specialists in Tourism and Environment. On
the other hand, a checklist was used to find out relevant aspects of the academic and
personal area of the career study plan. In addition, a checklist was used to verify that an
interpretive route contributes to the development of knowledge of the environment and
tourism. This checklist was applied to 6 students.
Regarding the type of research, it is explanatory, since it focused on collecting
information related to the teaching of environmental interpretation and its importance to
develop environmental and tourism issues. Also, an analysis of the study plan was carried
out, to determine its strengths and weaknesses in the problem. Furthermore, it is
explanatory, pre-experimental; According to the moment in which the data is collected, it
is cross-sectional, with a descriptive scope, since it investigates whether bird watching
optimizes the teaching of environmental interpretation in the students of the Tourism
Degree with an emphasis on Ecological Tourism.
For the quantitative analysis and to verify the reliability of the instrument, the
Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was applied, resulting in 0.895 for teachers, which indicated
good, as well as the instrument for Tour Operators, resulting in 0.854. However, for the
students (questionnaire 1) it was 0.699 and 0.649 for the checklist.
In conclusion, the study evidenced the importance of bird watching to promote the
teaching of environmental interpretation in the subjects of the Tourism Degree with an
emphasis on Ecological Tourism, for which a proposal for a manual about an Interpretive
Script focused to bird watching.
